Huntington Center for the Performing Arts hosts the national auditions for Burklyn Ballet Theatre
Huntington Center for the Performing Arts will host the national auditions for Burklyn Ballet Theatre on Sunday January 17 at 12 noon. The audition will take the form of a two hour master class taught by Founding Artistic Director, Angela Whitehill. Dancers should arrive 45 minutes before the audition to register and warm up. Ladies must bring pointe shoes and males should be prepared to demonstrate a basic knowledge of partnering commiserate with their age and training.Now in its 34th year, Burklyn Ballet Theatre is a unique performing program for dancers 12 and older, with a two week intermediate program for younger dancers 10-12 years old Each morning dancers take a one and a half hour ballet class, plus an additional class in either jazz, character, variations, contemporary or modern dance with internationally recognized master teachers. Afternoons and evenings are filled with pointe and pas de deux classes and rehearsals for the weekly performances. All dancers perform in the classical, modern and contemporary works which are fully produced and costumed, and presented at the 400 seat, state of the art, Dibden Center for the Arts, Intermediate dancers perform at the end of their two week session.
Burklyn Ballet Theatre is in residence at a Johnson State College which sits on a hill in among the green mountains of Vermont . Dancers are housed in their own dormitory with a ratio of 1 adult counselor per 6 students. Intermediate dancers are housed in a separate building with 24 hour counselor care. The college is just one half mile from the tiny village of Johnson.

We are introducing a new program designed for young dancers (ages 3 -7) entitled: Les Petits Danseurs - A Dance School for Children - formed to encourage an early relationship with all forms of dance.
Angela Whitehill assumes the helm of HBA and introduces an enriched and challenging curriculum to include elements of partnering, classical variations plus jazz, body conditioning, character ballet and dance history.
